I am a widely published feature writer - my specialist subjects include tech, lifestyle and social issues, green issues, media, business, disability, health, consumer, culture, etc. Clients include The Guardian, The Observer, Fabulous, Candis, New Consumer, Sweet, Your Home, How Do and Skin Two. I also write on professional topics for Editing Matters, the official publication of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders. Some of my clippings are available to view below.
I worked at BBC Radio Manchester in Jan-April 2010, developing features for Heather Stott and working on news for Beswick at Breakfast. I was in charge of coordinating coverage of the 20th anniversary of the Strangeways riot - my scoop was persuading Lord Woolf to talk exclusively to Radio Manchester about the inquiry he led and the reforms he had proposed to the prison system.
My book Epilepsy: the Essential Guide was published on 1 May 2009.
I've been a talking head on air discussing everything from business networking and epilepsy to regional news provision and my crying habits via MPs' expenses. I also review the papers and participate as a panel guest on radio chat shows.
Radio: BBC Radio Manchester, BBC Radio Merseyside, TalkSPORT (Late Show with Ian Collins), BBC Radio Lancashire
TV: NewsWatch (BBC News), DM Digital TV
